Greeneville, Tenn. - The Tusculum College Football Team (2-5, 1-2) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 26-25 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (3-3, 2-1) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at Pioneer Field.

Tusculum quarterback Torrey Slaven (Winfield, Tenn.)?threw for 267 yards while Rashaad Carter (Stone Mountain, Ga.) caught two touchdown passes and the Pioneers used their special teams to help pick up the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne rushed for a season-high 355 yards?and was?led by senior quarterback Major Herron (Kingsland, Ga.) and sophomore halfback Corron Boston (Durham, N.C.) with 123 and 104 yards, respectively, on the ground.

Slaven's six-yard touchdown pass to Carter with 5:30 remaining in the contest capped a 12-play, 50-yard drive and proved to be the game-winner.

Tusculum's Nick Smith (Seymour, Tenn.) blocked two extra points while Kaytron Becton (Miami, Fla.) returned one for two points in the win.

Tusculum opened the scoring when Slaven found Carter in the right corner of the end zone for a seven-yard touchdown pass with 23 seconds remaining in the first quarter.? The play finished off a 13-play, 80-yard drive.

L-R responded with 10 straight points including Herron's eight-yard touchdown run with 2:05 left in the?first half that gave the Bears a 10-7 advantage.

After Tusculum tied the contest at 10-10 entering intermission, Lenoir-Rhyne took the?opening second-half kickoff and drove 70 yards on 10 plays for the lead.

Boston finished off the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run but Tusculum quickly responded with two points on the blocked extra point and L-R led, 16-12, with 10:46 left in the third quarter.

The two teams traded rushing touchdowns - Tusculum's Marcus Foster (Siloam, Ga.) from one yard out and L-R redshirt freshman fullback?Isaiah Whitaker's (Durham, N.C.) four-yard run - and the Bears held a 22-19 lead with 14:08 left in the game.

After Corpe's second field goal of the game pushed L-R's advantage to 25-19, Tusculum drove 50 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

The Bears had a chance to win but fumbled away the ball at the Pioneers' 39-yard line on the ensuing drive and Tusculum ran out the clock to preserve the win.

Tusculum's Deonte Gist (Wellford, S.C.) caught a game-high 14 passes for 125 yards while Dustin Lane (Lithonia, Ga.) led all tacklers with 15.

On defense for the Bears, junior linebackers Demetrius Green (Cedartown, Ga.) and Cle-Artiss Davis (Miramar, Fla.) each finished with a team-high 14 takedowns in the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road next week when it travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference contest Saturday at 1 p.m.? Tusculum plays at Newberry next Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.
