Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Falls Short To No. 14 Wingate, 3-0

Senior middle blocker Chelsea Hill finished with seven kills for Lenoir-Rhyne in a 3-0 loss to No. 14 Wingate Tuesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

Hickory, N.C. - The 14th-ranked Wingate University Volleyball Team (25-0, 16-0) remained unbeaten with a 3-0 sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne University (17-12, 8-8) Tuesday night in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Gymnasium.? The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-18.

Wingate's Anna Hilton (Hickory, N.C.) led the way with a match-high 12 kills and 16 digs while Liz Willis (Raleigh, N.C.) dished out 42 assists as the Bulldogs won their 80th consecutive conference match.

Wingate, who also won its 48th straight regular season contest, received nine kills and 10 digs from Susie Murach (Burke, Va.) and nine kills from Lexi Potter (North Liberty, Iowa).

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman middle blocker Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) finished with a team-high high nine kills while senior?middle blocker?Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) added seven kills for the Bears in the losing effort.

Senior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.) and freshman libero Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) also tallied 11 digs each for the Bears, who were celebrating Senior Day prior to the match.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Jefferson City, Tenn., to take on Carson-Newman in a league match on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.? Wingate, meanwhile, returns home to host SAC-foe Anderson on Friday at 7 p.m., as well.
