Freshman return specialist Emily Culler finished with a team-high 18 digs in Lenoir-Rhyne's 3-2 loss to Carson-Newman in a league match Friday evening in Jefferson City, Tenn.

Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (17-13, 8-9) suffered its third straight setback with a 3-2 loss to Carson-Newman (16-13, 6-11) Friday evening in a South Atlantic Conference match at Holt Fieldhouse.? The Eagles won by scores of 25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 15-9.

Carson-Newman was led by Rachel Harper's (Chattanooga, Tenn.) match-high 19 kills and 15 digs while Kristen Pickett (Cleveland, Tenn.) dished out 57 assists as the Eagles swept the season series from the Bears.

Carly Swisher (Fort Collins, Colo.) also finished with 19 kills and Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) added a match-high 30 digs for Carson-Newman.

Senior middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) paced Lenoir-Rhyne with a team-high 11 kills and junior setter Meredith Lutz (Hickory, N.C.) finished with 22 assists and 17 digs in the losing effort.

Freshman outside hitter Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) added a double-double as well (10 kills and 11 digs) while freshman return specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) tallied 18 digs for L-R.

Lenoir-Rhyne wraps up the regular season with a conference match at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday in Harrogate, Tenn., beginning at 2 p.m.? Carson-Newman hosts Brevard on Saturday at 5 p.m.
