Lincoln Memorial Volleyball Holds On To Beat Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-2

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman middle blocker Haley Rhyne led Lenoir-Rhyne with a career-high 20 kills to go along with 10 digs despite a 3-2 loss to Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn.

Harrogate, Tenn. - The Lincoln Memorial Volleyball Team (22-5, 14-4) held on to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne (17-14, 8-10), 3-2, in a South Atlantic Conference match and the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Mars Gymnasium.? The Lady Railsplitters won by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 30-32 and 15-10.

Blaire Fowler (Fort Worth, Texas) led the way with 20 kills and 17 digs while Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) added 44 assists as Lincoln Memorial finished in a second-place tie in the league standings with Catawba entering the conference tournament.

Jennifer Drumm (Stanton, Mich.) added 17 kills for Lincoln Memorial, which won its eighth straight match and avenged an earlier loss to L-R.

For Lenoir-Rhyne, freshman middle blocker Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) had a career-high 20 kills to go along with 10?digs while junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added a double-double as well with 28 assists and 15 digs.

Senior middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) also tallied 11 kills for the Bears, who suffered their fourth straight defeat.

Lincoln Memorial, which totaled 12 services aces in the contest, also received a match-high 23 digs from Kristen Cantrell (Murfreesboro, Tenn.).

Both Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial will next play in the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament.? The tournament begins next Friday in Harrogate, Tenn.
