Newberry, S.C. - The Newberry College Women's Basketball Team (4-2, 1-0) pulled out a 63-62 victory over?Lenoir-Rhyne University (7-2, 1-1) in a South Atlantic Conference game Saturday afternoon at Eleazer Arena.

Newberry's Neicey Lewis (Nambour, Queensland, AUSTRALIA) sank a pair of free throws with two seconds left to lift the Wolves to the win.

Newberry's Haylee Lepaio (Bathurst, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA) finished with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Wolves outscored the Bears by a 6-0 margin in the final 2:10 to pull out the victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne, which saw its four-game winning streak snapped, was led by freshman guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) with 14 points while junior guard Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added 10 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort.

Lewis tallied 15 points and eight rebounds for Newberry in the contest which featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes.?

The Wolves also won despite hitting just one out of 15 three-point attempts (six percent) on the afternoon.? Newberry did, however, hold a 42-38 advantage in rebounds and forced L-R into 19 turnovers.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face St. Andrews in a non-conference contest on Monday inside Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 6 p.m.? Newberry plays at Tusculum in a conference contest next Saturday at 2 p.m.
