Hickory, N.C. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Team (14-10, 11-5) remained alone in second place in the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 65-40 win over Brevard College (6-20, 2-14) Saturday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
L-R junior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) led all scorers with 18 points and became the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 points.? Sealey now has 1,011 points for her career.
Sophomore guard Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added 11 points for the Bears, who won their third straight game and improved to 11-0 all-time against the Tornados.
Anna Schlobohm (Greensboro, N.C.) finished with a game-high 14 points to lead the Tornados, who shot just 20 percent (11-of-54) for the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne raced out to a 38-24 halftime advantage and pushed its margin to as many as 28 points (62-34 with 4:59 left in the game) on a lay-up by Sealey en route to the easy win.
The Bears also dominated on the boards as they held a 52-24 edge and limited the Tornadoes to just three treys in 23 attempts (13 percent) as well.
Lindsay Brendle (High Point, N.C.) added 10 points for Brevard while L-R freshman guard Danielle Bongiorno (Wilmington, N.C.)?and freshman forward Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.)?scored 10 points each?as four Bears finished in double figures.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home when it hosts conference-leading Tusculum on Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m., as part of Senior Night.? Brevard travels to Newberry, S.C., to take on Newberry on Wednesday in its next league game at 6 p.m.
