Greeneville, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (5-3) defeated Montevallo and King by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively, Saturday on the final day of the Tusculum Fall Classic.

The Bears defeated the Falcons by scores of 25-21, 16-25, 25-19 and 26-24 behind a match-high 13 kills from freshman outside hitter Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.).
Junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added a double-double (27 assists and 12 digs) for the Bears, who broke a 1-1 tie by prevailing in the second and third sets.
Montevallo was led by Michelle Walker (Houston, Texas) with 12 kills and Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn.) with 39 assists and 10 digs in the losing effort.

The Bears swept the Tornado in three sets, 25-19, 25-20, and 25-22, behind another double-double by Lutz (33 assists and 11 digs) and 12 kills from Brinkley.
Junior middle blocker Kayla Morrow (China Grove, N.C.) added 10 kills for the Bears while King's Ashley Pittman (Norris, Tenn.) tallied a match-high 17 kills despite the loss.
