Hartsville, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (8-5) swept Coker College (6-6), 3-0, Friday evening at Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.? The Bears defeated the Cobras by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16.
Three players finished with six kills - senior middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) and freshman middle blockers Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) and Brittany Toffan (Horseheads, N.Y.) - to lead the Bears to the victory.
Junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) dished out 17 assists and freshman defensive specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) finished with a team-high eight digs in L-R's road win.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior defensive specialist Cayla Crawley (Bryson City, N.C.) added three service aces and the Bears finished with 10 as a team.
Coker was led by Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) and Hannah Vadakin (Centennial, Colo.) with six kills each despite the loss.? Kelly Stine (Fort Collins, Colo.) was credited with 13 assists for the Cobras in the setback as well.
