Senior guard Cameron Sealey led all scorers with 22 points in Lenoir-Rhyne's 65-59 victory over Anderson in a South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (10-2, 2-1) downed Anderson (5-6, 2-1), 65-59, in a South Atlantic Conference contest Wednesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

L-R senior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) led all scorers with 22 points as the Bears improved to 5-0 at home this year and are now off to their best start in four seasons.

Junior guard Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added 10 points as Lenoir-Rhyne limited Anderson to just 35 percent shooting (23-of-66) for the contest including 16 percent (five-of-32) from behind the three-point line.

The Trojans' Alissa Diaz (Coral Springs, Fla.) finished with a team-high 18 points while Tilde Ahlin (Sodertalje, SWEDEN) scored 12 points for Anderson, who suffered its third straight loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne scored the final eight points of the first half to take a 31-30 advantage into intermission.?

A three-pointer by freshman guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) with 13:27 remaining in the second half gave the Bears a 43-42 lead and L-R would never trail again.

Lenoir-Rhyne, winners of three straight, would slowly build its advantage to as many as nine points at 53-44 on a pair of free throws from junior guard Caroline Laughter (Hickory, N.C.) and the Trojans would never get closer than three points the rest of the way.

In addition, L-R seventh-year Head Coach Todd Starkey is now one win away from tying Pat Smith (1977-82) for the most victories in program history.? Smith went 114-32 as Bear mentor.

Lenoir-Rhyne next hits the road to face Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, Tenn., in a South Atlantic Conference game while Anderson plays at league-foe Catawba.? Both contests are slated for Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
