Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (16-6, 8-3) stepped back into South Atlantic Conference play and defeated Brevard (9-12, 1-10), 3-0, Tuesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.? The Bears downed the Tornados by scores of 25-8, 25-18 and 25-19.
L-R sophomore outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) led the way with a match-high 14 kills while freshman outside hitter Morgan Bunker (Mount Airy, N.C.) added 11 kills and 13 digs as the Bears improved to 8-0 at home this year.
Senior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) finished with 34 assists and sophomore defensive specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added a team-high 15 digs for Lenoir-Rhyne, who also won its fifth consecutive match.
For Brevard, Megan Clark (Lenoir, N.C.) totaled six?kills and Sydney Yeomans (Ball Ground, Ga.) finished with 17 digs in the setback.?
The Tornados' Kayla Hanus (Kent, Wash.) tallied 19 assists as well in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Wingate, N.C., to face first-place Wingate (19-2, 9-2) in a key South Atlantic Conference contest Friday night?at 7:00 p.m. Brevard, meanwhile, returns home to face Catawba in a league match Friday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m.
