Hickory, N.C. - The Lincoln Memorial Volleyball Team (18-10, 10-4) remained in sole possession of third place in the South Atlantic Conference with a 3-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (16-9, 8-6) Friday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
Lincoln Memorial prevailed in the match over Lenoir-Rhyne by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 19-25 and 25-19.
The Lady Railsplitters' Blaire Fowler (Fort Worth, Texas) led the way with a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs while Jennifer Drumm (Stanton, Mich.) added 10 kills and 16 digs as Lincoln Memorial won its second straight match.
Brittany Pugh (Farmersburg, Ind.) also tallied 27 assists for the Lady Railsplitters, who swept the season series from the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne, despite the loss, was paced by freshman outside hitter Ashley Wells (Lovingston, Va.) with 10 kills while freshman setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) added a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.
Senior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) finished with 17 assists and nine digs as well for the Bears, who suffered their third consecutive defeat.
Lenoir-Rhyne will host Carson-Newman on Saturday for Senior Day in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.? Lincoln Memorial, meanwhile, plays Brevard in Brevard, N.C., in a league contest as well on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
