Brevard, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (18-9, 10-6) picked up a South Atlantic Conference road win with a 3-1 victory over Brevard (10-17, 1-15) Tuesday evening at Boshamer Gymnasium.
The Bears defeated the Tornados by scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-11 and won their second straight match in the process.
L-R is also in sole possession of fourth place in the South Atlantic Conference standings with the victory as well.
Freshman outside hitter Ashley Wells (Lovingston, Va.) finished with a match-high 13 kills while senior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) tallied 37 assists and 14 digs as the Bears swept the season series from the Tornados.
Sophomore outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.)?notched a double-double as well with 11 kills and 12 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) totaled 16 digs for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Kortney Conner (Franklin, N.C.) finished with nine kills and Kayla Hanus (Kent, Wash.) added 30 assists and 10 digs despite the loss for the Tornados, their seventh straight defeat.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to face Mars Hill while Brevard travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum.? Both conference matches are scheduled to begin on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
