Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Downs Anderson, 72-60

Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Whitley Culler finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds in the Bears' 72-60 win over Anderson Wednesday evening in a leauge contest at the Abney Athletic Center.

Anderson, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (15-5, 7-4) won its second consecutive game Wednesday evening with a 72-60 victory over Anderson (7-12, 4-7) in a South Atlantic Conference contest at the Abney Athletic Center.

L-R senior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) led all scorers with 20 points while junior guard Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Bears completed the season sweep of the Trojans.

Anderson was led by Amanda Parris (Summerville, S.C.) with a team-high 17 points while Alissa Diaz (Coral Springs, Fla.) added 12 points despite the loss.

L-R opened up a 38-28 halftime lead and took a 49-33 advantage, its biggest of the contest, on a three-pointer by Sealey with 16:58 remaining in the game.

However, Anderson charged back and cut the deficit to 55-53 at the 9:20 mark of the second half on a three-point basket?by Diaz.? The play concluded a 20-6 run for the Trojans.

Lenoir-Rhyne took control from there and ended the contest with an 11-2 run.? Anderson was held to two points in the final six minutes of regulation.

L-R also held a 42-35 advantage in rebounds and limited Anderson to just 32 percent shooting (21-of-65) from the field including 31 percent (nine-of-29) from behind the three-point line.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.? Anderson visits Mars Hill for a league contest Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
