Lenoir-Rhyne freshman guard A.J. McKenzie scored 11 points in a 70-47 loss to Wingate Wednesday night in a South Atlantic Conference game at Cuddy Arena.

Wingate, N.C. - The Wingate Men's Basketball Team (13-10, 9-4) had four players score in double figures en route to a 70-47 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (11-11, 7-6) Wednesday night?in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Cuddy Arena.

The Bulldogs' Chase Smith (Upper Marlboro, Md.) led the way with 16 points while Deion Turman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 14 points and 12 rebounds as Wingate avenged an earlier loss to Lenoir-Rhyne.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) with 12 points and freshman guard A.J. McKenzie (Gastonia, N.C.) added 11 points but the Bears shot just 35 percent (15-of-50) for the game in the loss.

The Bulldogs took control early as they scored the game's first eight points and never trailed in the contest.

Wingate held a 32-23 advantage at halftime and never let its lead get below six points the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs also closed the game with a 10-0 run and shot 53 percent (10-for-17) from behind the three-point line while remaining in sole possession of third place in the SAC standings.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to take on Carson-Newman Saturday at 6:00 p.m., at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium while Wingate hosts league-foe Tusculum Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
