Lenoir-Rhyne Suffers 3-0 Loss To Lincoln Memorial In Volleyball

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outside hitter Ashley Wells finished with eight kills in a 3-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial Friday night in a South Atlantic Conference match at Harrogate, Tenn.

Harrogate, Tenn. - The Lincoln Memorial Volleyball Team (11-5, 4-1) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (7-5, 3-2), 3-0, in a South Atlantic Conference match Friday evening at Mars Gymnasium.? The Lady Railsplitters defeated the Bears by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-13.

Lincoln Memorial's Blair Fowler (Fort Worth, Texas) led the way with a match-high 13 kills while Brittany Pugh (Farmersburg, Ind.) added 25 assists as the Lady Railsplitters won their second straight match.

Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) added nine kills, 13 assists and seven digs for Lincoln Memorial, who remained tied for first place with Tusculum at the top of the league standings.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outside hitter Ashley Wells (Lovingston, Va.) finished with a team-high eight kills and freshman setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) tallied 15 assists and seven digs despite the loss.

Sophomore outside hitter Kiaya Robinson (Chapel Hill, N.C.) added six kills for the Bears, won saw their two-match winning streak come to an end.

Lenoir-Rhyne next faces Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City, Tenn., beginning at 2:00 p.m. Lincoln Memorial, meanwhile, remains at home to face Brevard on Saturday in a league contest at 4:00 p.m.
