Brevard, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (9-3, 2-2) downed Brevard (2-10, 1-3), 70-64, in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday at Boshamer Gymnasium behind a career-high 34 points from sophomore guard Denzel Dillingham (Hickory, N.C.).

Dillingham connected on 10-of-17 shots and hit six three-pointers in leading the Bears to the victory.

Junior guard Jarvis Perry (Willingboro, N.J.) added 10 points and nine rebounds for Lenoir-Rhyne, who led by as many as 14 points in the first half and held on in the end for the win.

Brevard's Geral Simmons (Accokeek, Md.) totaled a team-high 17 points and Manzey Miller (Rock Hill, S.C.) added 15 points but the Tornados lost their fourth straight game.

The Bears, who never trailed in the game, went into the break with a 29-21 advantage and extended their lead to 63-52 on three free throws by junior guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) with 3:17 left in the contest.

Brevard tried to rally and cut the margin to 65-61 on a three-pointer by Miller with 39 seconds remaining but L-R held on in the end. Lenoir-Rhyne, which held a 40-25 advantage on the boards, hit five free throws in the final 24 seconds en route to the win.

Freshman forward Rob Noyes (Morganton, N.C.) added seven points, four assists and a game-high 11 rebounds in the league road?victory for the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Catawba while Brevard visits Lincoln Memorial.? Both South Atlantic Conference games are scheduled to tip-off at 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday night.
