Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Allan Jones led the Bears with a 13 points in a 65-44 setback to Wingate Wednesday night on the road in a South Atlantic Conference game in Wingate, N.C.

Wingate, N.C. - The Wingate Men's Basketball Team (7-4, 3-0) remained undefeated in South Atlantic Conference action with a 65-44 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (8-3, 1-2) Wednesday evening at Cuddy Arena.

The Bulldogs' Odell Turner (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds while Paidrick Matilus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) added 13 points as Wingate remained tied for first place in the league standings with Lincoln Memorial and Anderson.

Junior forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) finished with a team-high 13 points off the bench despite the loss for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Jones was also the lone player to score in doubles figures for the Bears, who shot just 30 percent (17-of-56) for the game in the loss.

Wingate jumped out to a 29-20 lead at intermission and slowly increased its lead throughout the second half as the Bulldogs held a 43-26 advantage in rebounding in the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore guard Denzel Dillingham (Hickory, N.C.) and senior center B.J. Beasley (Charlotte, N.C.) added seven points each as well in the losing effort.

L-R remains on the road to face Brevard on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., in Brevard, N.C.? Wingate, meanwhile, travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill in a league contest on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., as well.
