Wingate Women's Basketball Takes League Win Over Lenoir-Rhyne, 61-51

Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Jazmine Charles finished with 10 points in a 61-51 loss to Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference game Tuesday at Cuddy Arena in Wingate, N.C.

Wingate, N.C. - The Wingate Women's Basketball Team (4-1, 2-1) downed Lenoir-Rhyne (4-2, 1-2), 61-51, Tuesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference game at Cuddy Arena.

The Bulldogs' Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C.) was one of three players to score in double figures for Wingate, finishing with a team-high 14 points in the win.

L-R junior guard Jenni Gust (Colfax, Wis.) led all scorers with 17 points but the Bears shot just 27 percent (18-of-66) from the field in suffering their second straight loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne held a 29-28 lead on a field goal by Gust with 18:08 remaining in the game but Wingate responded with the next six points and never trailed again.

Janitsha Williams added 13 points for the Bulldogs, who ended the contest with a 13-6 run over the final four minutes of regulation.

Junior guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) and freshman forward Morgan Cooper (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 10 points each for the Bears, who also hit just one three-pointer in 12 attempts.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Brevard, N.C., to take on Brevard on Wednesday, December 4, beginning at 6:00 p.m., in a South Atlantic Conference game.? Wingate hosts Belmont Abbey Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
