Brevard, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (5-2, 2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 67-48 win over Brevard (2-4, 1-3) Wednesday night in a South Atlantic Conference game at Boshamer Gymnasium.
L-R junior guard Jenni Gust (Colfax, Wis.) finished with a game-high 19 points and was one of three players to score in double figures for the Bears in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) added 15 points as the Bears held a 40-23 advantage on the boards and limited the Tornados to just 34 percent shooting (18-of-53) in the triumph.
Brevard's Shelby Wolfe (Pittsboro, N.C.) scored a team-high 10 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the Tornados.
Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to a 33-21 halftime advantage and led by as many as 22 points in the second half on three occasions.? The Bears also shot a season-high 52.9 percent (27-of-51) from the field and was nine-for-10 (90 percent) from the free throw line.
L-R senior guard Krystal Patton (Chilhowie, Va.) scored 12 points and added seven rebounds off the bench as the Bears also forced the Tornados into 19 turnovers in the contest.
Both teams return to action on Saturday, December 14, against South Atlantic Conference schools at home.? Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Carson-Newman at 4:00 p.m., while Brevard entertains Queens beginning?at 2:00 p.m.
