Hickory, N.C. - The Wingate University Women's Tennis Team (4-1, 1-0), ranked No. 30 in NCAA Division II, defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University?(0-2, 0-2) by an 8-1 score Tuesday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Hickory High School.

The contest was the 2013 home opener for the Bears.

L-R junior Nateesha Hurtt (Jacksonville, Fla.) defeated Wingate's Morgan Winston (Lawrenceville, Ga.) at fourth singles by a score of 6-2, 3-6 and 10-6.

Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference match on Sunday at 12:30 p.m., at Hickory High School.

Wingate, meanwhile, faces Belmont Abbey on Thursday in Belmont, N.C., beginning at 2:30 p.m.
