Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (18-7, 11-6) celebrated Senior Night in fine fashion with an 82-68 win over Mars Hill (4-21, 1-16) Wednesday at Shuford Gymnasium in a South Atlantic Conference game.
L-R sophomore guard Denzel Dillingham (Hickory, N.C.) led the way with a game-high 31 points including 23 in the first half as the Bears took both?contests of the season series this year from the Lions.
Mars Hill's Carter Wright (Roanoke, Va.) finished with 27 points and hit five three-pointers while Khouraichi Thiam (Dakar, Senegal, Africa) added 10 points and 17 rebounds despite the loss.
The Bears took a 42-27 advantage into intermission and pushed their lead to as many as 20 points in the second half in the victory.
The Lions tried to make several runs later in the second half but could get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.?
Mars Hill also connected on 12 three-pointers including nine treys?in the second half in the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Jarvis Perry (Willingboro, N.J.) added 15 points and senior forward B.J. Beasley (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with 12 points and dished out six assists as the Bears shot 54 percent (35-of-65) from the field in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne, 9-2 at home this year, will hit the road for its final regular season game of the year on Saturday.? L-R will face Newberry at 4:00 p.m., while Mars Hill hosts Anderson on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m., as well.
