Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Shuts Out Third Straight Opponent, 1-0 Over Queens

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (6-2-2, 3-1-1) won its third straight match with a 1-0 shutout victory over Queens (4-5, 2-3) Saturday night at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex in a South Atlantic Conference contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior midfielder Cassandra Kerrigan (Osprey, Fla.) scored the lone goal of the match at the 68:01 mark of the contest.  Kerrigan received a pass from freshman forward Hannah Van Eerden (Stokesdale, N.C.) from the top and scored from about 25 yards out for the win.

The goal was Kerrigan's first of the season while the Bears also registered their third straight shutout victory.

In addition, Lenoir-Rhyne held a 22-6 advantage in shots taken and stayed in the top-half of the South Atlantic Conference standings.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Andrea Leano (San Diego, Calif.) earned the win in goal after making a pair of saves while sophomore Rachel Quest (Charlotte, N.C.) suffered the loss despite making eight stops and allowing just one goal on the night.

Lenoir-Rhyne faces Mars Hill in Mars Hill, N.C., on Wednesday evening in a league match beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Queens hosts Catawba on Wednesday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.
