Hartsville, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (4-11, 2-6) suffered its fourth straight setback with a 3-1 loss to Coker (9-6, 3-6) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at the Harris E. & Louise H. DeLoach Center.
The Cobras defeated the Bears by scores of 25-23, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-17 and won their second straight contest.
Coker was led by Bethany Prochnow (Wildomar, Calif.) with 13 kills while Madison Bingle (Grand Rapids, Mich.) added 10 kills and 22 digs in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite 19 kills and eight blocks from junior middle blocker Emily Steele (Greenville, N.C.). Freshman outside hitter Katrina Samuels (Blythewood, S.C.) added 14 kills and senior right side hitter Tiffany Brooks (Kannapolis, N.C.) totaled five kills and a team-high 21 digs in the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne tallied 12 blocks in the contest but was hit with seven service errors. Coker's Christen Bragg (Rock Hill, S.C.) added a double-double – 34 assists and 13 digs – and the Cobras totaled eight service aces in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host the first of three straight South Atlantic Conference matches at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., against Tusculum. Coker, meanwhile, faces Tusculum on Friday in Greeneville, Tenn., beginning at 7:00 p.m.
