Hartsville, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (10-3-2, 6-2-1) remained unbeaten in its last seven matches with a 4-0 victory over Coker (5-6-1, 3-5) Wednesday night in a South Atlantic Conference contest at the Cobras Athletics Field.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Ismael Noumansana (Reims, FRANCE) scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season while the Bears broke the contest open with three goals in the first nine minutes of the second half in the victory.
Noumansana opened the scoring with a goal from short range at the 40:10 mark of the first half for the Bears, who remained in sole possession of third place in the conference standings.
Lenoir-Rhyne's scoring surge just after halftime included goals from junior midfielder Jens Roessler (Ettlingen, GERMANY) and senior defender Josh Alderson (Formby, ENGLAND) and an own goal. The goal for Alderson was his first of the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne held an 18-13 advantage in shots taken while senior Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) made six saves and registered his seventh shutout of the season. Coker's Michael Ritterbeck (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite stopping seven shots on the night.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Wingate, the No. 1-ranked team in NCAA Division II, for Senior Day in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.
In the first Southeast Regional rankings of the season, Lenoir-Rhyne is fifth while Wingate is second. Coker hosts Queens on Saturday night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
