Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (5-12, 3-7) suffered a 3-1 setback to Lincoln Memorial (12-2, 9-1) Friday night in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Railsplitters defeated the Bears by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-22 and remained in sole possession of second place in the league standings.
Lincoln Memorial, which won its fourth consecutive match, was led by Samantha Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) with 16 kills while Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) tallied a double-double – 48 assists and 14 digs – in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne redshirt freshman middle blocker Jaclyn Denny (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) and freshman outside hitter Katrina Samuels (Blythewood, S.C.) led the way offensively with 12 kills each and sophomore setter Jessica Funk (East Bend, N.C.) totaled 40 assists in the losing effort.
The Lady Railsplitters' Liz Brock (Lima, Ohio) and Danielle Ged (Smyrna, Tenn.) finished with 12 kills each in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Carson-Newman on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., in a league contest while Lincoln Memorial takes on Brevard in Brevard, N.C., on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
