Lenoir-Rhyne Ties Anderson, 2-2, In Men's Soccer Match After Two Overtimes

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (7-3-2, 4-2-1) tied Anderson (4-5-2, 0-5-2), 2-2, after two overtimes in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Upward Star Center Complex.

Junior forward Ismael Noumansana (Reims, FRANCE) scored both goals for the Bears to increase his league-leading total to 14 as the two teams played at a neutral site.

Noumansana scored just 2:23 into the match and gave the Bears a 2-1 lead at the 21:53 mark of the first half after a cross from sophomore forward Marc Fernandez (Barcelona, SPAIN), who was credited with the assist.  Noumansana also has eight goals in his last four contests.

Anderson, who was vying for its first league win of the year, received goals from Shinya Negata (Yokohama, JAPAN) and Magnus Einarsson (Holmavik, Iceland) in the tie.  Both scores were the first goals of the season.  Einarsson's goal came at the 75:37 mark of the second half to tie the contest at two but neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the way.

Lenoir-Rhyne held a 24-18 edge in shots taken despite the tie.  Both goalkeepers, Lenoir-Rhyne junior Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) and Anderson's Devon Ashy (Greenville, S.C.), allowed just two goals in 110 minutes of action.  King made five saves while Ashy stopped eight shots on the evening.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Dahlonega, Ga., on Wednesday to face North Georgia at 6:30 p.m., while Anderson takes on Catawba on Saturday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m., in Salisbury, N.C.
