Anderson Women's Soccer Shuts Out Lenoir-Rhyne, 1-0

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (7-3-2, 4-2-1) saw its four-match winning streak come to an end with a 1-0 shutout loss to Anderson (7-4, 4-3) Saturday afternoon at the Upward Star Center Complex.

The Trojans scored the lone goal of the match when Michaela Johnson (Columbia, S.C.) headed the ball in from two yards out off a cross from Lyssa Engle (Fairborn, Ohio) at the 68:53 mark of the second half.  The goal was Johnson's first of the season.

Lenoir-Rhyne held a 15-11 edge in shots taken despite the loss.  The match was played at a neutral site. 

Anderson's Abby Helm (Dayton, Ohio) earned the shutout victory in goal after making two saves while Lenoir-Rhyne senior Andrea Leano (San Diego, Calif.) suffered the loss despite allowing just one score while making four stops.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to take on Lees-McRae on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., while Anderson faces Catawba in a South Atlantic Conference match next Saturday, October 15, at 5:00 p.m., in Salisbury, N.C.
