Brooke Redmond has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Redmond, a junior outside hitter from Statesville, N.C., averaged 14.6 kills and 17.6 digs in leading the Bears to a 3-0 week including two wins over a pair of first-place teams in the league: Queens (3-1) at home last Tuesday and Lincoln Memorial (3-0) last Friday on the road.
Redmond, a 2015 First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree, tallied double-doubles in all three matches including a 19-kill, 27-dig performance against Carson-Newman on the road Saturday in a 3-2 victory to increase the Bears' winning streak to five matches.
Redmond currently leads the team in kills (272) to go along with 11 service aces, 231 digs and 33 blocks.
Anderson's Emily Conlin (Glendale, Ariz.) has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist Of The Week.
Lenoir-Rhyne (12-17, 10-12) will be the seventh seed in the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship and will face second-seeded Lincoln Memorial (23-7, 17-5) in a quarterfinal match in Harrogate, Tenn., beginning at 7:00 p.m. The teams split the regular season series.
The semifinals and finals of the tournament will take place at Cuddy Arena on the campus of Wingate University on Friday, November 18, and Saturday, November 19. The champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
