Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (8-17, 6-12) swept Coker (12-15, 4-15), 3-0, in a South Atlantic Conference match Friday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bears defeated the Cobras by scores of 25-21, 25-10 and 25-20 and snapped a four-match losing streak in the process.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior middle blocker Emily Steele (Greenville, N.C.) with a match-high 10 kills while senior right side hitter Brandi Thomas (Wilmington, N.C.) added eight kills and 12 digs in the victory.

Coker was led by Madison Bingle (Grand Rapids, Mich.) with six kills while Kara Overholt (Tryon, N.C.) added 24 digs in the losing effort. The Cobras hit just .053 for the match and committed six service errors in suffering their third straight loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior setter Emma Pope (Kannapolis, N.C.) added a match-high 30 assists in addition to eight digs for the Bears, who totaled eight service aces and avenged an earlier loss to the Cobras in the regular season.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to take on Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Brevard hosts Coker on Saturday in a league contest beginning at Noon.
