Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (4-0) remained perfect on the year with victories over Bluefield State, 21-0, and Mount Olive, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Bears Field.

The Bears put the Lady Blues away early with a 10-run first inning and Lenoir-Rhyne run-ruled Bluefield State in the easy victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior outfielder Jordin Phillips (Hampstead, N.C.) hit a three-run home run and finished with five runs batted in while junior first baseman Sydney Landreth (Disputanta, Va.) added four runs batted in. Landreth keyed the first inning with a two-run double.
Freshman Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 1-0 on the year after pitching the first three innings while Bluefield State's Emily Day (McGraw, W.Va.) suffered the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Emily Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) came on in relief and retired the final two batters with two runners on for the save and preserve the win for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore shortstop Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.) broke a 2-2 tie with the game-winning, two-run single in the third inning. The Bears finished with 11 hits in the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior Maryann Hoskins (Havelock, N.C.) (1-0) earned the victory while Caitlin Ewers (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) suffered the loss. Anna Ingram (Rosewood, N.C.) drove in two runs to lead the Trojans.
