Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (13-3) picked up a 7-3 win over Pfeiffer (6-11) in a non-conference affair Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior first baseman Colby Dishmond (Statesville, N.C.) drove in three runs and the Bears took control with a five-run fifth inning on their way to the victory.
Dishmond highlighted the frame with a bases-clearing triple while the Bears used eight pitchers in the contest who combined to limit the Falcons to just one earned run.
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outfielder Justin Dean (Mauldin, S.C.) added four hits and freshman outfielder Grant Fuller (Simpsonville, S.C.) went three-for-three with a run batted in as the Bears finished with 12 hits in the contest.
On the mound, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Connor Dailey (Rutherfordton, N.C.) improved to 3-0 after pitching two scoreless innings while Pfeiffer's Brodrick Rierson (King, N.C.) fell 0-1 after suffering the loss.
Pfeiffer, which was held off the board until the eighth inning, was led by Jordan Eckard (Catfish, N.C.) and Cody McKenzie (Troy, N.C.) with two hits each while Tanner Mathis (Hamptonville, N.C.) drove in a run in the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday at Noon in a doubleheader against Mars Hill in Mars Hill, N.C. Pfeiffer, meanwhile, hosts Erskine in a Conference Carolinas game on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
