Brevard, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (6-4, 4-0) won its fifth consecutive game with a 22-13 triumph over Brevard (1-9, 0-4) Wednesday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at Tornado Field.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior attacker Mike Hanlon (Haymarket, Va.) led all scorers with five goals while sophomore midfielder Ben Corrigan (Johns Creek, Ga.), junior attacker Will Remsen (Baldwin, N.Y.) and senior attacker Taylor Thilo (Greensboro, N.C.) all scored three times as the Bears remained unbeaten on the season. Hanlon leads the team this year with 27 goals.
Brevard, still searching for its first league win on the year, was paced by Kyle Hunziker (Gainesville, Fla.) with three goals in the losing effort.
With the match tied at five early in the second period, the Bears took control with seven straight scores and never looked back.
Lenoir-Rhyne held the advantage in both shots taken (50-35) and ground balls (50-34) while sophomore midfielder Shane Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) won 24 face-offs and collected 11 ground balls.
In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Ryan Crompton (Frederick, Md.) earned the win after stopping nine shots while Brevard's Xzavier Holmes-Copeland (Woodbridge, Va.) suffered the loss despite making 12 saves.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday at Moretz Stadium beginning at 3:00 p.m. Brevard faces Lincoln Memorial on the road on Saturday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m., in Harrogate, Tenn.
