Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Wins Easily Over USC Aiken, 4-0 Shutout Home Triumph

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (2-1-1) scored three goals in the first half to take control on its way to a 4-0 victory over USC Aiken (2-2) Saturday afternoon at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward Kendall Smith (Asheville, N.C.) scored two first half goals to lead the Bears to the victory over the Pacers.  The Bears have two victories and a tie since dropping their season opener last Friday.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman forward Maialen Herreros (Bilbao, SPAIN) gave the Bears a 3-0 advantage at the 28:11 mark of the first half.  Freshman midfielder Abigael McGarel (Morristown, Tenn.) was credited with the assist on the score as the Bears put the contest away by halftime.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman forward Hannah Van Eerden (Stokesdale, N.C.) rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the year in the 78th minute of action.

The Bears held an 18-7 advantage in shots taken while senior goalkeeper Andrea Leano (San Diego, Calif.) earned the shutout victory after making three saves on the afternoon.  USC Aiken's goalkeeper, Karin Cadwalader (Hasselby, SWEDEN) made eight stops but suffered the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Belmont Abbey on Wednesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m.  USC Aiken hosts Carson-Newman on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
