Charlotte, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (1-2) fell to both Lander (3-0) and USC Aiken (3-0) by scores of 3-0 and 3-1, respectively, Saturday on the final day of the Queens Fall Invitational.

The Bearcats defeated the Bears by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-16 in the first match of the day for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Lander was led by Halle Dotson (Titusville, Fla.) with 14 kills while Kendall Korte (Morris, Ill.) added 16 digs as the Bearcats remained unbeaten on the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior outside hitter Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) with 10 kills while freshman defensive specialist Anna Smith (Harmony, N.C.) had 18 assists in the setback. The Bears were hurt by a .036 hitting percentage.

After losing the first set, USC Aiken rallied to capture the final three sets and earned the win. The Pacers won by scores of 22-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-14.
USC Aiken stayed perfect on the season thanks to Julia Forster (Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Taylor Stratton (Chesapeake, Va.) with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Lauren Howard (Aiken, S.C.) had a double-double – 46 assists and 14 digs – for the Pacers as well.
Redmond led the way once again with 16 kills in addition to 11 digs while Smith totaled 22 assists and junior defensive specialist Ashley Markland (Conover, N.C.) had 21 digs in the losing effort.

Lenoir-Rhyne opens South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday, September 6, against Catawba on 7:00 p.m., at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The match is also the home opener for the Bears.
