UNC Pembroke Women’s Soccer Halts Lenoir-Rhyne’s Win Streak, 2-0

Pembroke, N.C. – The UNC Pembroke Women's Soccer Team (8-3-1) ended Lenoir-Rhyne's (8-4-1) three-match winning streak with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Bears Saturday evening at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.  The Bears were able to put pressure on the Braves but could not convert their chances.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•    Both of the Braves' goals came in the first half courtesy of Alexis Pittman (Greensboro, N.C.) and Stacey Scott (Jacksonville, N.C.) at the 10:11 and 20:32 marks, respectively.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite holding a 14-5 advantage in shots taken.  In terms of shots on goal, the percentages were 61.5 percent for the Bears and 80 percent for the Braves.
•    The Bears are held scoreless for only the second time this year.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Alayna Morris (Westminster, Md.) suffered the loss.  Morris was credited with a pair of saves.  UNC Pembroke's Gina Ryan (Cape Carteret, N.C.) earned the shutout victory in goal after stopping 10 shots on the day.
•    UNC Pembroke held the edge in corner kicks, 3-2.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
•    UNC Pembroke is now 5-0-1 in its last six contests.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore midfielder Madi Kyle (High Point, N.C.) – making her third consecutive start – failed to extend her two-game goal scoring streak.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to take on Coker in a South Atlantic Conference match Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.  UNC Pembroke, meanwhile, hosts Lees-McRae on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
