Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (9-10, 5-8) returned home Friday night but fell in a tight contest, 3-2 to Carson-Newman (13-10, 8-7), in South Atlantic Conference action at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Eagles won by scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-16, 14-25 and 15-10.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
• Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outside hitter
Taylor Prall (Tipp City, Ohio) totaled a match-high 17 kills on the night – making it 33 kills in the last two contests – to go along with 16 digs for the double-double.
• Four players – Prall, senior outside hitter
Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.), junior defensive specialist
Bailey Cloninger (Hickory, N.C.) and junior setter
Jessica Funk (East Bend, N.C.) – all tallied double-doubles for the Bears despite the loss.
• Redmond totaled 12 kills and 16 digs, Funk finished with 29 assists and 17 digs and the Bears totaled 10 blocks in the contest.
• Carson-Newman's Marnie Streeter (Goldvein, Va.) had 20 kills and Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) had 37 assists – both match-highs – in the win. Patton, as a setter, also came through with six kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• After starting the year 4-0 in league play, the Bears have lost eight of their last nine conference contests.
• Carson-Newman has won five straight matches and avenged an earlier loss to Lenoir-Rhyne at home in September.
