Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (0-3) fell in its home opener – 72-71 to King (2-1) – in overtime Wednesday night at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. Mack Owens (Abingdon, Va.) hit the game-winning shot off a put back with time running out in the first overtime for the Tornado.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
• Owens finished with a double-double – 10 points and 10 rebounds – while Jordan Floyd (Stone Mountain, Ga.) led all scorers with 30 points and hit a trey at the end of the second half to force overtime and a three-pointer late in overtime to carry the Tornado to the win.
• Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior guard Cory Thomas (Louisville, Ky.) with a team-high 21 points with four treys while junior guard Djibril Diallo (Conakry, GUINEA) added 13 points in the loss.
• The Tornado held a 44-31 advantage on the boards and received a seven-point, 13-rebound performance from Mike Salomon (Statesboro, Ga.).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne has now lost eight straight games dating back to last season.
• King and Lenoir-Rhyne met in the playoffs in 2016: an 83-79 Bears' victory on Saturday, March 12, in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.
