Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (11-1) rallied from a four-run deficit to beat West Virginia Tech (3-7), 9-8, Sunday afternoon at Bears Field to claim the weekend series from the Golden Bears.

Justin Dean (Mauldin, S.C.) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch with one out as the Bears were able to pull out the victory after falling behind by a 6-2 score in the middle of the fifth frame.

Josh Kent (Winston-Salem, N.C.) tied the contest at eight with a two-run double in the eighth inning while junior outfielder
Marcus Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) added three hits and two runs batted in to lead the Bears offensively.

Thomas St. Clair (Winston-Salem, N.C.) improved to 4-0 after striking out the final batter in the top of the ninth inning while sophomore first baseman
Alex Reynolds (Charlotte, N.C.) hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season for the Bears.
West Virginia Tech's Wyatt Belinda (Alexandria, Pa.) hit a solo home run and drove in two while Garrison Vandeventer (Ocala, Fla.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road to take on UNC Pembroke on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., in Pembroke, N.C. West Virginia Tech plays Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky., in a doubleheader next Saturday beginning at Noon.
