Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – For the second day in a row, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (2-2) splits its two matches at the 10th annual Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational Saturday at Rick Case Arena. The Bears fell to the host school – Nova Southeastern – by a 3-0 score before sweeping Saint Anselm, 3-0.

The Sharks picked up their first victory of the season with a sweep of the Bears – 25-15, 25-15 and 25-20 – and were led by Denvyr Tyler-Palmer (Jacksonville, Fla.) with a match-high 19 kills. Nicole Rivera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) added a double-double – 23 assists and 12 digs – in the victory as well.

Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) finished with 12 kills and freshman setter
Maggie Bogart (Shawnee, Kan.) and sophomore defensive specialist
Anna Smith (Harmony, N.C.) added 15 and 13 assists, respectively. The Bears were held to just a .053 hitting percentage.
Lenoir-Rhyne 3, Saint Anselm 0
Lenoir-Rhyne once again evened its record with a sweep of Saint Anselm, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18.
The Bears were led by Redmond and freshman outside hitter
Taylor Prall (Tipp City, Ohio) with 12 kills each while Bogart and Smith combined for 29 assists in the victory. The Bears also totaled eight service aces and eight blocks.
The Hawks' Catherine McCarthy (Broad Run, Va.) finished with 12 kills and Jewel Hays (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) added 25 assists and eight digs in the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Lees-McRae next Saturday in its home opener at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
