Jefferson City, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (4-1, 1-1), ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II, suffered its first loss of the year with a 1-0 setback to Carson-Newman (4-1-1, 2-0-1) Wednesday night in a South Atlantic Conference contest at McCown Field.
The Eagles scored the lone goal of the match at the 31:59 mark of the first half when Tobias Solem Karlsen (Kongsvinger, NORWAY) tallied his fourth score of the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite holding a 12-7 advantage in shots taken. The Eagles' goalkeeper, Twan Verweij (Utrecht, NETHERLANDS), earned the shutout victory after stopping a pair of shots while Lenoir-Rhyne senior
