Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team (1-1) picked up its first win of the year with a 22-10 triumph over North Greenville (1-1) Saturday evening at Moretz Stadium.

Nelson Brown (Salisbury, Md.) added 106 yards on the ground and a score as the Bears held a dominating edge in time of possession – 43:26-16:34 – in the victory.
The Bears found the end zone on their first three possessions including four and five-yard touchdown receptions by freshman

North Greenville was limited to just 199 yards of total offense as the Bears simply kept the Crusaders off the field.

Demarius Hampton (Carthage, N.C.) caught six passes while senior linebacker
Marcus Kincaid (Morganton, N.C.) added nine tackles and a forced fumble and sophomore linebacker
Dominick Britt (Greensboro, N.C.) registered two sacks in the win.
For the Crusaders, Ashton Heard (Abbeville, S.C.) scored a touchdown on the ground while Brandon Burger (Powdersville, S.C.) led all tacklers with 14 in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens South Atlantic Conference play next Saturday, September 16, against Mars Hill in Mars Hill, N.C., beginning at 1:00 p.m., while North Greenville plays at Albany State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
