Wingate, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (7-8, 5-4) made it three victories in a row with a 77-75 road triumph over Wingate (8-8, 5-3) Wednesday night in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Cuddy Arena.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Four players scored in double figures for the Bears – led by junior guard
Cory Thomas (Louisville, Ky.) with 16 points – and Lenoir-Rhyne shot 56 percent (30-of-54) for the game.
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard
Djibril Diallo (Conakry, GUINEA) scored 14 points and senior guard
Jarvis Calhoun (Birmingham, Ala.) added 13 points and hit three treys for the Bears.
• Wingate was led by Kerigan Farley (Hickory, N.C.) with a game-high 22 points while Marco Haskins (Fredericksburg, Va.) added 12 points and nine boards in the setback. The Bulldogs held a 39-28 edge in rebounding but hit just six-of-20 three-point attempts.
• LR held a 38-34 advantage entering intermission and never trailed the rest of the way. Thomas broke a 65-all tie with a lay-up at the 2:18 mark of the second half which proved to be the game-winning basket.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne senior guard
Reed Lucas (Greensboro, N.C.), with 10 points and two three-pointers, moved into a 49th place on the Bears' all-time scoring list with 1,036 points.
• The Bears defeated the Bulldogs on the road for the first time in three seasons.
• Thomas continues to lead the Bears in scoring at 15.6 points per game.
UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne is off until next Wednesday, January 17, when the Bears head to Charlotte, N.C., to take on second-ranked Queens beginning at 8:00 p.m. Wingate remains at home to face Carson-Newman Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Both contests are South Atlantic Conference games.
