MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team opened the 2018-19 campaign with a big win over rival Mars Hill in a dual meet – 154.5–107.5 – Friday afternoon at the Harrell Pool.
Lenoir-Rhyne opened the night with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team consisting of freshman
Jacob Greene (Lewisville, N.C.), junior
Jacob Queen (Hickory, N.C.), freshman Alex Ballard (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and sophomore
Spencer Ashby (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished in a time of 1:37.78.
The Bears were led by Queen, who won three events for the meet: 50-yard breaststroke (26.84), 100-yard breaststroke (58.34), and 100-yard IM (52.70). In addition, Ashby took first place in both the 50-yard freestyle (21.99) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.12).
Next up, Lenoir-Rhyne hosts St. Andrews and Converse for their home opening tri-meet on Saturday, October 20, at 2:00 PM, at the Shuford Physical Education Center.
