Men's Basketball Snaps Road Losing Streak at Carson-Newman with 78-62 Victory

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - For the first time since Jan. 7, 2012, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team went into Holt Fieldhouse and came away victorious, defeating the host Eagles 78-62 on Wednesday night. The win snaps a six-game losing streak at Carson-Newman thanks to a great shooting night by the visitors.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    The Bears tied a season-high with 14 made 3-pointers on the night and shot a scorching 45.2 percent from long range in the victory.  
•    Jon Jean finished with his first career double-double as the senior PG finished with 12 points and handed out 11 dimes on the night. Jean only committed one turnover in the victory and shot 50 percent from the field and from long range. 
•    R.J. Gunn was the leading scorer as the sophomore poured in 17 points. Four players scored in double figures for the Bears, including 16 from Cory Thomas and 14 from Djibril Diallo who knocked down a team-high four triples. 
 •   LR connected on 16-of-31 shots in the first half and went 8-for-16 from deep over the final 20 minutes. 
•    Carson-Newman turned the ball over 17 times, compared to just nine from the Bears. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    The Bears went on a 10-0 run in the first half and a 15-0 run in the second half to lead by as many as 32 points in the victory. 
•    Carson-Newman lost its third straight game of the year, a first in the nine-year tenure of Head Coach Chuck Benson. 
•    Despite ​the win, the Bears shot a season-low 2 free throws in the game. Carson-Newman was whistled for just six fouls on the night. ​​​
