Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Sweeps Road Doubleheader From Erskine, 2-1 And 5-1

Due West, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (6-3) swept a non-conference regional doubleheader from Erskine (2-4), 2-1 and 5-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Flying Fleet's complex.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 1):
•    Lenoir-Rhyne senior shortstop Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.) and junior pinch hitter Emily Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) drove in runs for the Bears in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.  Carter's RBI broke a scoreless tie.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne junior Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 3-2 on the year after throwing the complete game victory.  Parks scattered four hits while striking out five batters.  Erskine's Morgan Hendrix (Kershaw, S.C.) fell to 2-1 after taking the loss.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 2):
•    Kenley (3-1) threw a six-hitter in addition to eight strikeouts as the Bears completed the sweep of the Flying Fleet.  Carter had another run-scoring hit while senior catcher Mackenzie Cates (Efland, N.C.) hit a solo home run for Lenoir-Rhyne in the victory.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to take on Barton (Noon) and King (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday at Bears Field while Erskine faces Newberry on the road on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., in a doubleheader.
