Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (13-4), ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II, swept Belmont Abbey (6-12), 4-3 and 8-0, Tuesday evening in a non-conference regional doubleheader at Bears Field.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 1):
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior outfielder
Erin Boone (Creedmoor, N.C.) scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a three-all tie which proved to be the game-winner.
• The Bears were led by senior shortstop
Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.), who finished with two hits and a run batted in while junior
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) (5-3) went the distance for the victory. Parks allowed just one earned run while striking out seven batters.
• For Belmont Abbey, Melissa Neyhouse (San Diego, Calif.) and Kaitlin Moore (Kannapolis, N.C.) drove in runs while Chace Helms (Monroe, N.C.) (3-4) took the loss for the Crusaders.

Mackenzie Cates (Efland, N.C.) hit a pair of run-scoring doubles as the Bears run-ruled the Crusaders. Lenoir-Rhyne freshman first baseman

Emily Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) (7-1) threw a four-hit shutout.
• Belmont Abbey's Annabeth Watkins (Wendell, N.C.) fell to 2-6 after taking the setback.

• Lenoir-Rhyne now leads the all-time series with Belmont Abbey, 51-4-1. Lenoir-Rhyne also improved to 8-0 at home this year.
