Hickory, N.C. – For the sixth straight year, the Lenoir-Rhyne University Cheerleading squad will compete at the NCA Championships beginning next Thursday, April 5, in Daytona Beach, Florida.  NCA is the National Cheerleaders Association.

There will be a special Sendoff Showcase in Moretz Gymnasium on Tuesday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m., as the squad will show the school and the surrounding community their routine.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Bears' cheerleading squad earned a bronze paid bid at summer camp in the Fall of 2017 to attend the NCA Competition.

The team is slated to perform in the Gameday Division II, the first year this division has existed.  The division is made up of cheerleaders, dancers, band members and mascots to present the best gameday routine in the nation.  Lenoir-Rhyne will perform a cheer/chant, band chant and school Fight Song in a three-minute routine.

This is the largest collegiate cheerleading competition in the nation with thousands of participants from schools all across the nation.  LR has previously placed in the Top Five for intermediate Division II.
