Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Spirit Team - consisting of the SugarBears Dance Team, Co-Ed Cheerleading Squad and Mascots - has announced its Cheer, Dance and Preview Days for 2018-19:  Friday, April 27, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 29, from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., for Cheer and Friday, April 27, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., (Day One) and Sunday, April 29, at 5:00 p.m. (Final Audition Day) for Dance.  All tryouts will take place at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

A second day of tryouts take place on Friday, May 18, from 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

You must attend a Preview Day for invitation to be part of one of our collegiate spirit teams! You can meet current cheerleaders and dancers, have a question-and-answer session, learn cheers and chants, stunt session and more!

CHEER BEARS TEAM INVITATION REQUIREMENTS:
Co-Ed Cheer Squad - tumbling skills are strongly encouraged, but not required, all one leg stunting skills (Lib, Stretch, Arabesque with full twist dismount).  We will also review more advanced skills (Switch Ups, Full Ups and Back Tuck Baskets).

If you have a gymnastics background, you do not have to have a cheerleading background to audition!

• Must possess strong game day skills in motions, dance, personality and fitness.
• Interviews will be conducted with each potential cheerleader.
• Each cheerleader is required to purchase shoes, warm-ups accessories and pay for the NCA Camp (this can be paid out of pocket or fundraised) and will move into school two weeks prior to school starting.

MALES DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE PREVIOUS CHEER EXPERIENCE!

DANCE TEAM INVITATION REQUIREMENTS:
Dancers will audition on Sunday, April 29, for invitations with material taught on the Saturday, April 28

Must have previous dance or cheerleading experience.  We will be incorporating high kicks, pirouettes, straight leg turns and leaps into our routines. 

• Must possess strong game day presence in motions and Dance. 
• Interviews will be conducted with each potential dancer.
• Each dancer is required to purchase practice wear, shoes, warm-ups and will move into school two weeks early and must fundraise or pay for NCA Camp.

PREVIEW DAY ATTIRE:
• CHEER - Please wear Lenoir-Rhyne colors (cardinal, black or white) and black shorts with white cheer shoes and hair pulled back with a bow.  Please arrive with hair and makeup game day ready
• DANCE - Please wear black leggings or pants and black top (crop or full length and nothing loose fitting) with jazz shoes.  Please arrive with hair and makeup performance ready.

PREVIEW REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: 
All preview days will coincide with Red & Black Days and will begin promptly after preview day is over!  You must PRE-REGISTER by emailing us your information and fill out a waiver to attend preview day.
