Hickory, N.C. – The No. 17 Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse Team (1-1) held off a furious Lenoir-Rhyne rally to prevail over the Bears by a 15-13 score Thursday afternoon at Moretz Stadium. LR is 1-4 on the season.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The Lakers' Angelina Simon (Snyder, N.Y.) scored four goals while Taylor Izzo (Buffalo, N.Y.) added a goal and six assists as Mercyhurst raced to a 13-7 lead at the 16:28 mark of the second half and held off Lenoir-Rhyne to take the win.
• The Bears were paced by junior midfielder
Rachel Elmore (White Plains, Md.), who scored a game-high six goals in the setback. Sophomore midfielder
Kaley Harris (Havre de Grace, Md.) and junior attacker
Gabby Sousa (Delran, N.J.) also scored twice for Lenoir-Rhyne but the deficit was too great to overcome.
• Abby Miller (Cranberry Township, Pa.) stopped five shots for the victory in goal for Mercyhurst, who held a 33-22 advantage in shots taken. Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper
Ines Flueck (Coppell, Texas) suffered the loss despite making 10 saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne has played its first five games at home and will now play away from Moretz Stadium for the first time this year.
• Sousa and Elmore rank first and second on the team in goals scored with 13 and 12, respectively.
