Hickory, N.C. – The Tusculum Baseball Team (19-19, 11-8) won the opener of a South Atlantic Conference weekend series with Lenoir-Rhyne (23-15, 10-9), 24-4, Friday evening at Bears Field.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The Pioneers put the contest away early, building a 9-0 advantage after three innings of play.
• Tusculum was led by Daulton Martin (Lancaster, Pa.) and Jarel McDade (Magnolia, Texas). Martin hit a three-run home run and drove in six runs while McDade added five runs batted in for the Pioneers, who totaled 25 hits in the contest.
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior outfielder
Justin Dean (Mauldin, S.C.) had an RBI triple while junior catcher
Zack Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) added a run and two hits in the losing effort.
• On the mound, Charles Hall (Dumfries, Va.) (4-1) pitched eight innings and earned the win for Tusculum while Lenoir-Rhyne senior
Matt Sullivan (Bristol, Va.) fell to 4-3 after taking the loss.
